Parent/Child Dedication

Congratulations!

We are so glad that you are interested in participating with us in Parent/Child Dedication.  You have been entrusted with the precious gift of new life, and we look forward to partnering with you as you embark on this parenting journey.  We hope the Parent/Child Dedication will be a memorable occasion for you and your family.

Before you sign up, we invite you to consider the following information.

Parent/Child Dedication takes place during the 9:30 and 11:11 Worship Service 3 times a year.  All of the parents participating in that service will meet together in the main offices 15 minutes prior to the service’s start time.  A staff member will line you up and give you specific directions for the morning. The family members present will enter the side sanctuary doors at the direction of the staff member responisble. You will meet Pastor Curt and hand him a slip of paper with your names on it. He will introduce you to the church and pray over your family. You will then exit the stage on the opposite side that you entered from.

Parent/Child dedication is a time for families and their faith community to dedicate themselves to raising their children in a spiritual and God honoring environment.   As a church, we desire to come along side of you and support you every step of the way!

Parent/Child Dedication FAQ

Do I need to be a member of Westside to participate?

No. Parent/Child Dedication is an opportunity for any parent to stand
before God and dedicate themselves to raising their child in a Godly
environment regardless of church membership.

Is there an age limit for children to participate?

Although we have not placed a specific age limit on those who participate
in dedication, the children who generally get dedicated are 2 years old and
younger.

What should I wear?

Whatever appropriate clothing you would wear to church on a normal
Sunday is fine. Neither you nor your child needs to wear a special garment
(i.e. a christening gown).

Are godparents involved in the service?

Godparents are welcome to attend the service, but are not actively
involved in the formal process at Westside.

Can siblings be involved in the service?

Yes, siblings are welcome to be a part of the service.

Do you baptize infants?

No. Biblically, baptism is reserved for a person who has made the choice
to turn from their sin and follow Christ. Infants are not able to make such
a choice so we do not baptize them. We do eagerly await the day they
make that choice and would be excited to baptize them at that time!
